POINT 5K LEANNE FUND RUN GETS SUPPORT FROM P.S.T.
The Leanne Fund has secured five-year sponsorship worth £10,000 from community wind farm charity Point and Sandwick Trust, (P.S.T.) to support its annual Point 5k fundraiser. It also secured £3,000 for office equipment to help provide its support services to young people with Cystic Fibrosis.
The 5k is on June 1st and, to mark its 10th anniversary, a 10k run is also being held for the first time this year.
Donald John MacSween, P.S.T. Trust General Manager, said:
“PST are delighted to support The Leanne Fund by sponsoring the annual Point 5k which has grown in popularity and continues to raise funds for a charity that delivers a worthwhile and important service.”
Chrisetta Mitchell, Development Manager of the Leanne Fund, said: “We are very grateful to Point and Sandwick Trust for this significant sponsorship. The funding will allow us to plan ahead with certainty and continue to organise this popular event for years to come.”
The events can be entered online via http://www.theleannefund.co.uk/events.html but forms can also be picked up from The Leanne Fund office on Point Street. The event has also been supported by Tighean Innse Gall and Point Community Council.

STORNOWAY HALF MARATHON ROAD CLOSURES
Western Isles Council have issued a Road Traffic Regulation Act notice warning the public of temporary road closures on Bayhead Street, Matheson Road, Sandwick Road and James Street Stornoway between the hours of 10:00am to 10:15am:
BAYHEAD STREET, MATHESON ROAD AND JAMES STREET: North of the entrance in to Perceval Square towards and along Bayhead Street to the roundabout, adjacent to Porter's Lodge, along Matheson Road and then along James Street to the Shell St/ North Beach Street Roundabout.
SANDWICK ROAD: the section West of the Sports Centre entrance to the James Street/Matheson Road roundabout.
Access will be available for emergency vehicles in discharge of their duties.
The temporary closure is in the interests of road safety at the start of the Stornoway Half Marathon. Traffic will be held up at any junctions or accesses to these roads as the race passes.

GUIDES & W.I.L.L. HELP HARRIS TO BLOOM THIS SUMMER
This summer Harris will be showcased with the addition of dozens of floral displays around Tarbert thanks to Supporters of the Western Isles Lifestyle Lottery (W.I.L.L.) with maintenance being carried out by Girlguiding Harris.
Harris Football Club received the first award of 2019 and South Harris Agricultural Show are soon to be awarded the latest proceeds.
The Lottery Team have now partnered with Girlguiding Harris who will receive all funds raised during May, June and July in the Harris area.
Harris Girl Guides have welcomed the responsibility of upgrading their own local area by looking after the displays throughout the summer months whilst earning much needed funding for their efforts.
This is an exciting challenge for the girls and their Leader, Matilda Lomas-Mackenzie is preparing them for the big day.
Willowglen Garden Centre have been commissioned to provide the blooms which are scheduled to be displayed from Tuesday 28th May at 4pm. It is hoped that this project can be enhanced and expanded on in future years throughout the area.
