Local Business Support Grant

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is launching a new COVID-19 Local Business Support Scheme to help businesses, unable to access support from existing Scottish and UK Government business schemes.
Commenting on the new Scheme, Comhairle Leader, Roddie Mackay, stated: “We’ve heard from many businesses that are falling through the cracks of the existing support schemes. The Comhairle are making grant funding available of up to £5,000, to support local businesses through this crisis and help them prepare for recovery.
“With our limited financial resources, we have to target support where it is most needed.

Hand Washing

NHS Western Isles' Dermatology Department, has issued tips for members of the public, to keep their hands healthy, in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.
With members of the public washing their hands more than ever, they may experience symptoms of dermatitis, manifesting in dry, chapped, itchy and swollen skin.
To treat dermatitis and mitigate the chances of it occurring: NHS Western Isles Dermatology Department guidance is to: ensure hands are wet before applying soap, wash hands thoroughly, rinse hands thoroughly, apply moisturiser and try to wear gloves for household chores.


Children's Corona Book

NHS Western Isles is recommending a free book about coronavirus, to parents of primary school children The digital book is appropriate for children between 5 and 9 is available as an e-book.

The free book answers key questions about the virus and the measures taken to control it, in simple language. The book is available on Amazon from Nosy Crow Publications.
